24V LED undercabinet fixtures operate on low-voltage DC power from a 24V driver or transformer, giving them a meaningful advantage over 12V systems in one specific way: at the same wattage per foot, a 24V system can support a longer continuous run before voltage drop degrades output at the far end of the circuit. That makes 24V the preferred platform for large kitchen islands, long cabinet runs in commercial kitchens, and any installation where a single circuit needs to cover more than 8 to 10 linear feet of fixtures.
24V undercabinet bar lights connect the same way as 12V fixtures: small DC connectors link individual bars in series, and a single hardwired or plug-in 24V driver powers the whole run. The fixtures themselves are physically similar to 12V models, with the same mounting clips, similar lumen outputs per foot, and the same color temperature options from 2700K to 4000K. Dimming requires a 24V-compatible dimmer or a smart driver with built-in dimming control.
When planning a 24V system, verify that the driver's wattage rating is sized to at least 125 percent of the total fixture load. A 60W driver running 48W of fixtures is a typical sizing margin that prevents thermal stress and premature driver failure. Most 24V drivers are class 2, keeping the cabinet wiring safe and code-compliant without conduit.
