About LED Remote Heads

LED remote heads are individual lamp assemblies that connect to a central emergency lighting unit or battery pack and extend illumination coverage to areas the main fixture cannot reach directly. They allow a single central unit to serve multiple egress zones, which can reduce total fixture count and simplify battery maintenance compared to installing a full emergency light in every location.

Remote heads are specified by wattage, beam spread, and mounting type. They connect to the host unit via standard low-voltage wiring and activate automatically on the same AC power loss signal that triggers the main unit. Adjustable heads allow aiming at a specific floor area or stairwell landing after installation without tools.

A common application is a corridor where the main emergency light is at one end and remote heads extend coverage toward the far end or around a corner. Another is a multi-flight stairwell where the main unit cannot illuminate the full run from one position.

Pair remote heads with compatible Emergency Lights or central battery systems from the Emergency Battery Packs category. For full egress system planning, see the complete selection of Exit Signs and Combination Exit and Emergency Lights.
